Caller on 606 says Noble has had his day ....
He started off ok, saying what a player Payet looks , but then went on about how MArk has no pace , and we have out grown him.

Wrighty talked some sense into him, but the mentality of some people , im not saying he's a bad bloke , but how do people come to these conclusions, is beyond me.

I personally think everyone goes overboard on how good Kayoute is. He's very good when you're up against it at say Arsenal away, but when it comes to us being the team in the ascendancy, his lack of quality passing ability gets shown up, for me.

Basically, he's like a 6ft 4 Behrami.

" Lastly, only someone absolutely determined to be wrong would suggest that Noble has been better than Kouyate since the latter joined."

Where's anyone suggested that then? They haven't of course, you've made it up.

I thought he was marginally better than Kouyate on Saturday. I also think that on an off-day, Kouyate still created more. Lastly, only someone absolutely determined to be wrong would suggest that Noble has been better than Kouyate since the latter joined.

I thought Treacle Boots just edged it ahead of Kouyate

"If you're going to compare him to Kouyate then compare their goals and assists this season"

Why? Are midfielders only any good or do you only judge their performances on goals and assists?

Simple question Hermit.

Who played better Saturday Noble or Kouyate?

Funny how his lack of pace didn't impact the side in the first half of last season or how Arsenal didn't exploit it last week.

Still it's a football forum, why not start your own thread about how average the likes of Kouyate are etc etc etc

You won't of course as you have a Noble fixation.

Agree, painful how many times he gave the ball away.

I'm Kouyate's biggest fan but thought he was the worse player on the pitch on Saturday.

The original post was about Noble....not Oxford or Kouyate.

For the record it wasn't until Obiang came on that we looked capable of doing anything. The midfield as a whole was poor with the exception of course of Payet so you could say none of them escape criticism.

I want to make it clear on Noble. My judgement call on him is based on what I see week in week out...and yes I do go to both home and away games and have done for longer than I care to remember.

When he made his debut noone was more delighted for the kid than me. He fulfilled a dream most of us can only dream about playing for your boyhood club.

He has now had ten years and in my opinion his game has stagnated...particularly the last few seasons.

His good games are few and far between, he is constantly off the pace in games and he frustrates the hell out of me watching him labour around the pitch in the latter part of games.

Now the arguement is why have so many managers picked him? Fucking good question which baffles me because Noble just doesn't produce the consistent performances week in week out from what I watch.

Ive said it before, reach the same level of performance he did on a handful of accasions last season and then you have the opportunity to throw back the criticism at me. But I struggle to see how anyone can justify the guys inclusion each week with some of the performances he has given us these last few seasons.

How on earth the club gave him a five year contract I will never ever understand.

Football at the highest level has moved on significantly from when Noble made his debut. The game is quicker, and there is more emphasis on fitness than ever before.

I'm not saying he is unfit but he is a yard to slow and constantly off the pace. That has a negative effect on the football we play.

I would throw the same arguement out there if it was another palyer if I felt the same thing, no matter who he is how much he cost or where he was born.

All I want is what's best for West Ham and it's my opinion we can do better than Mark Noble...............unless he starts performing the way he did in the odd game last season.

I hope he can prove me wrong because I would be the first to admit I'm wrong but I fear that will never happen. The best of Mark Noble we saw a long long time ago.

Re: Caller on 606 says Noble has had his day ....
What credit? I thought the whole team were being pilloried.

Also, I mean poor in comparison to his early season form. Early on he looked a really good player so I expected much more from him than I was seeing in the later games.

I'm just talking midfield too as I don't think he had any bad games at centre back.

Saturday he was poor and I think that impacted Oxford.

Correct, Kouyate was the only midfielder to maintain their own average form over the whole course of the season last year.

Re: Caller on 606 says Noble has had his day ....

Depends on how many games you've seen. Kouyate was poor in the last 21 games.

Are you being serious????? Kouyate was about the only player to come out of the second half of last season with any credit......mind boggling opinion that!

If I was asked to pick one of them to start I'd be picking kouyate every day of the week. Noble is a grand player to bring on to hopefully see out a game.

Very little difference between Kouyate & Noble for me, Kouyate was dropped in the first half of last season becuase his form dripped.

Kouyate has certainly been better than noble since he arrived, you're clueless to think otherwise

Re: Caller on 606 says Noble has had his day ....
Kouyate has not been consistently better than Noble since he arrived. I think his last really good game was the Man Utd home game. He doesn't look the same player to me at the moment as he was in the first half of last season.

Noble however is pretty much Mr Consistent.

I noticed he was more advanced than normal on Saturday and hope that continues. I do wish he would shoot more though.

Re: Caller on 606 says Noble has had his day ....
I see, so when he doesn't play well it's OK because he played well aginst Spurs last season for half a game, when somebody else doesn't play well though, they should be criticised even if they're 16 years old or someone who has consistently performed well.

Incidentally, Kouyate scored in our first game and set up Payet in our second.
